Uniform, Presentation & Punctuality
As part of the Initial Training Programme, each group should parade at the start and end of each lesson. A parade should consist of basic drill training to prepare YV’s for their passing out parade. Information and guidance on drill can be found here.

This article from the Guardian gives a useful review of the best 'To Do List' apps.
Activity 1: Starter
Discuss as a group why time management is important in PSYV. For example:
Adding to your school workload
Meeting at different times
Taking part in events across the country
It's important to make clear that punctuality is essential within PSYV. Youth Volunteers work alongside paid officers that have to be in certain places at certain times to fulfill their job requirements. The same expectations are required of youth volunteers.
Now try this time management game.
Activity 2: Discussion
Have a look at this video on how to write a to do list from 'Work Smart. It suggests apps and tools that you can use effectively.
In pairs, discuss and write a goal that you have for your time in PSYV.
Then in the same pairs, make a to do list of how you will achieve that goal. Then identify distractions that you face. You can use the Time Management Handout provided to do this.
Now, come together as a large group and discuss strategies you could use to deal with distractions or things that hinder you from achieving your goal.
Think about things that you now have to include in your daily or weekly to do list now that you have joined PSYV. E,g, attending regular sessions, looking after your uniform. What would your 'to do list' look like to make sure that was done properly?
Activity 3: Uniform
Give out a copy of this PDF on uniform standards. Talk about the do's and don'ts of wearing the PSYV uniform and why it's important to follow these guidelines at all times.
