Pre-Session Info As part of the Initial Training Programme, each group should parade at the start and end of each lesson. A parade should consist of basic drill training to prepare YV’s for their passing out parade. Information and guidance on drill can be found here. Introduction This resource guides you through Module 1, Unit 3 Initial Training Programme - Rank & Structure. Outcomes On completion PSYV's will: Have a better understanding of the police rank structure Identify the PSYV structure, and permitted identifiers Location Group room or classroom Duration It is anticipated that you will require 2 hours to deliver this lesson. Resources Presentation - link here to view in full Ranks Ranks Fun Quiz Ranks Fun Quiz Answers Ranks Fun Quiz Instructions Activity 1: Starter Start by working your way through the presentation to explain the different ranks and structures wtihin Police Scotland. Give out the ranks handout. Activity 2: Interactive Cut out different epaulettes and set them face down on a table. Choose a YV to go and select one and hold it (or pin it with a safety pin) to their shoulder. The rest of the group should address them in the right way and say what rank they hold. Repeat the exercise by giving other members of the group a turn. Activity 3: Ranks Fun Quiz Split the group into teams and follow the instructions (see resources) to try this fun quiz before asking YV's to complete the online quiz. PSYV Award Assessment FOR THOSE COMPLETING THE CREDIT RATED PSYV AWARD ON MOODLE The assessment for this activity is a 5-question quiz which can be accessed on Moodle. Please advise youth volunteers on the following points: The quiz is on Moodle under Module 1: Initial Training Programme / Rank Structure Quiz They have 2 attempts to complete. After this their mentor needs to review their learning before allowing them to re-try. They need to get 4 out of 5 questions correct. #Module1 #AllTopics
